Why use our services?
Which Problems do we solve for you?
Structural Inspection and Maintenance Management (SIMM) audits serve the primary function of preventing structural failures that could have been avoided through the implementation of proper maintenance systems. The main objectives of these audits are to prioritize critical items to optimize structural integrity and extend the lifespan of structures, while also ensuring the safety of personnel and infrastructure. By focusing financial input on critical items, SIMM audits help to reduce the risk of structural failures and minimize the potential impact on people and property.
Who Provides the Services for you?
ET-SIMM provides on-site visual SIMM audits conducted by qualified Civil/Structural/Mechanical Engineers who are certified by Anglo-American as SIMM inspectors. Each inspection team is led by an experienced engineer and assisted by a trained technician to ensure thorough and accurate inspections.
How Do We Provide it?
In conducting audits, we rely on visual inspections and refer to the Anglo guidelines for condition category and level of priority rating. Additionally, we customize electronic data-capturing applications to match the specific infrastructure that will undergo inspection and align with the clients documentationl requirements. During the inspection, if any issue is found, it will be captured and documented, with clear indications provided to its location for ease of reference, highliting the condition category and level of priority rating.
When do you need these Services?
The legislation governing the Mining Industry (Minerals Act and Regulations (50/1996) and Regulations to the Mines and Works Act (1956) – Regulation 16.73) does not require plant structures to undergo regular inspections. However, recent regulations in the Construction Industry mandate that structures should be inspected by a Structural Engineer at intervals not exceeding 12 months.
Similarly, regulations pertaining to lifting equipment require inspections and tests at intervals not exceeding 12 months. To ensure safe operation of mining plant structures, it is recommended that trained Structural Inspectors conduct regular inspections at defined intervals. A formal inspection by a Structural Inspector should be carried out at least once every year, and by a Structural Engineer at least once every five years.
Following this good practice will help ensure the safety and reliability of mining plant structures.
